On completion of the Database Administration career path you will be able to manage and maintain databases. A database is a structured collection of records or data which is stored in a computer so that a program can consult it to answer queries. The records retrieved in answer to queries become information that can be used to make decisions. The computer program used to manage and query a database is known as a database management system (DBMS).
When you finish this program you will have the necessary skills to ensure the implementation and the smooth day to day running of a database. Database professionals can have wide and varied roles within organisations. Their responsibilities can include the installation or configuration of Microsoft SQL Server and the management and maintenance of databases, user accounts, database availability, disaster recovery and reporting. They may also design or implement security or server automation and monitor and troubleshoot SQL Server activity.
Continuous Professional Development
Once you reach this senior level your everyday experience will provide opportunities for continuous professional development.
You may also consider additional training at a higher level, on new technology areas or in management, commercial or business skills.
