Computeach donates 25 flat screen monitors to local primary school

Computeach, one of the UK's leading IT training specialists, is investing in the future of IT and education in their local area with a donation of 25 flat screen monitors to Roberts Primary School in Gornal, West Midlands.

The company has a long-standing relationship with the primary school through sponsorship and donations. The company sponsors the school's ICT room and donates equipment on a yearly basis to ensure that the children have a modern and stimulating learning environment, donating around £10,000 of peripheral equipment since 2002.

Roberts Primary School had planned to replace their existing screens, but Computeach stepped in with 25 flat screen monitors that they felt would benefit pupils and teachers alike. The flat screen monitors take up significantly less room, meaning that the children have a more spacious learning environment. The flat screen monitors are also more energy-efficient than the older monitors in keeping with the school's strong environmental ethos.

Roberts Primary is a community school and was formed in April 1984 following the amalgamation of Roberts First and Middle Schools, although its history goes back over 100 years. The school boasts a purpose-built IT department in recognition of the importance of IT skills in modern life. Computeach has been an important sponsor of the IT facilities and continues its support with this generous donation.

"The donation is a wonderful gesture from a company that has strong ties with the school," says Deputy Head Teacher Steve Greenhalgh. "It means that the money we would have spent on the monitors can now go towards other learning resources for the children," he added.

Computeach has had a close relationship with the school for several years and has worked with them on numerous projects including running an annual Christmas card competition amongst the pupils with the winning design being chosen as the official Computeach Christmas card every year.

"We feel that businesses and education establishments can work together as part of a cohesive community effort to give our children the best possible start in life," says Computeach's managing director Karl Parkinson. "IT is such an important factor in the modern world and vital to children's education and Computeach is proud to be associated with a forward-thinking school and to promote a healthy understanding of IT at the earliest possible developmental stage in their school lives," he adds.

Computeach is determined to continue their support of Roberts Primary School. "As a learning establishment ourselves, we really do understand how having the right equipment can make the experience much more exciting and rewarding," says Karl Parkinson. "The next generation of IT specialists deserve all the support and help we can give them, and if that means providing something as simple as new flat screen monitors, then we are more than happy to help," he concludes.
