Fiona has IT!

Fiona decided that IT would be the best industry to move into and wanted the qualifications to get her there

Fiona Watmore is currently an estate agent and is studying for a qualification in Business Systems Analysis and Design. After her divorce, Fiona decided to change her life around. She had always been interested in computers and wanted to expand on her existing IT knowledge. Fiona decided that IT would be the best industry to move into and wanted the qualifications to help her get there.

Fiona saw a TV advert for Computeach, which encouraged her to make a call for some more information. She received an information pack including a video, which prompted Fiona to arrange for a sales visit.

"...you don't have to know what you want to do because they (sales advisors) go through everything with you. I said that I would like to be able to design a computer system from scratch and was advised from there what course to do. There are a huge range of courses to choose from to suit everyone on all levels whether you have never been involved in IT before or just want to expand on the skills you already have."

Being a single parent and working full time, Fiona already has a demanding lifestyle and sometimes struggles finding the time to study. To focus on her studies, Fiona says " I just think of what I want to achieve by doing it and that I will finally get there."

Studying with Computeach, Fiona combines distance learning with practical in-centre days with tutors. She has found the in-centre days very informative as they confirm her own learnings.

Since making the decision to study for a career in IT, Fiona is feeling much more knowledgeable and confident about making her move into the IT industry. She offers these words of advice to other students:

"I know it can be a daunting prospect to embark on home study especially when you wonder how on earth you are going to juggle all of other life's demands but it can be done.....and what else are you going to do with your time? Watch TV?”
