Former piano teacher, Catherine Crowley, took the decision to change her life style. After deciding to leave the teaching profession Catherine spent time looking at her career options.
Despite knowing very little about computers, the world of IT appealed to her due to the vast numbers of career opportunities it offered.
"The IT industry is always moving forward and is growing by the day. More and more people are needed to fill the new roles this creates".
After spotting an advertisement, Catherine found the perfect way to retrain. By enrolling with Computeach, she would receive the combination of flexible distance learning with hands-on in-centre study, which would allow her to study around her work and family commitments.
"Computeach seemed to be the most efficient company and the one best suited to me with two young children".
Catherine enrolled with Computeach Recruitment not long after starting her studies. "The job search programme really helped me with the way that I approached letters and interview techniques. It gave me confidence. I found being able to present my coursework also helped."
After a bit of hard work, the ex-piano teacher's studying paid off when she secured her first job as a trainee programmer just one year into her IT course.
Catherine is certain that by doing a Computeach course, she has been able to change her lifestyle for the better:
"It focused my mind and I now have a direction in life, I can show my children what can be achieved with effort and enthusiasm."
Thrilled with her employment success, the ex -piano teacher is very happy with the career change she made.
"I now feel I can progress, I am in a full-time position with prospects."
"To all those who may be considering the switch to a career in computing: You need a goal. If you want to succeed you can."
