A village in north Wales is to receive superfast broadband services in a few weeks' time.
Some 7,500 people and businesses in Hawarden will benefit from the high-speed technology from BT's Openreach programme.
Following the installation, a total of 160,000 premises in Wales will enjoy superfast broadband.
The IT giant has also announced plans to add a further 70,000 properties to its superfast internet network either towards the end of this year or at the start of 2012.
It comes as BT prepares to launch the network across two-thirds of homes in the UK over the course of the next four years.
"Fast and reliable internet connections are an essential part of our national infrastructure, whether we want them for entertainment at home, education online, boosting our businesses or delivering essential public services," commented Ann Beynon, BT director for Wales.
"BT's investment in fibre broadband will benefit both Wales's ability to compete and the wider local economy."
