IT industry firms are likely to see a correlation between their adoption of IT and their level of corporate success, new research shows.
According to the 2011 Technology Trends Survey from SWC Technology Partners, respondents whose companies held a "strategic" perception of IT were more likely to report increases in revenue, market share and profit margin, compared to respondents who merely viewed IT has necessary.
Of the respondents who said their firms had a strategic approach to IT, almost nine in ten (88 per cent) said they were optimistic or cautiously optimistic about their company's business outlook over the next 12 months.
The survey found that adoption of cloud computing is low, with just three per cent of respondents claiming that their organisations have adopted a company-wide cloud computing solution.
Elliott Baretz, vice-president of SWC Technology, said: "A strong business needs to remain focused on what gives it a competitive advantage. I think this is why we saw such a strong correlation between today's thriving respondents and how they value technology."
The survey questioned 210 mid-market IT industry professionals and business leaders.
