Internet security technologies are growing all the time in order to beat online fraudsters, but experts have warned that threats still exist.
Internet and PC security organisation Prevx has pointed out that internet banking and online shopping have grown over recent months, but warned the threat from fraudsters remains.
As a result, the internet needs to invest in more experts who can work to develop more secure code and anti-malware software that can be used to help prevent fraud in the future.
"The banks have the problem and therefore they will react and I'm sure that they will over time invest money into dealing with this," said Mel Morris, chief executive at Prevx.
In a recent survey conducted by Gartner, 38 per cent of UK consumers said security is the most important reason for not banking online.
IT giant Microsoft recently launched its Windows 7 operating system, which it hopes will help cut online fraud by making working online more secure for users.
