A list of the towns and villages in Britain with the slowest broadband download speeds has been released.
The small village of Farningham in Kent clocked the slowest speed in the UK with an average download speed of just 1.3Mb, according to research by broadband comparison website Top10.com.
People who are interested in taking networking courses may note that the small town's slow download speed means it would take residents 45 minutes to download just one album and 12 hours to download a film.
Country villages and small market towns appear to be the most likely to suffer from poor speeds, suggesting a distinct rural/urban split.
Speeds in the south of England are also faster than the north, with Farningham and the small town of Holsworthy the only places south of London that are on the list of worst broadband locations.
Alex Buttle, director of broadband comparison website Top10.com said: "It's a shame that in this day and age broadband blackspots continue to exist. The UK needs to offer top broadband speeds across the country regardless of geographic location, which is something the UK's networks are failing to deliver."
The government is committed to providing a universal 2Mb fixed broadband rate across the country by 2015 and culture minister Ed Vaizey has given his backing to a two-speed broadband network that will allow providers to charge a premium for a faster service.
