The majority of university students have a positive impression of IT careers, one expert has claimed.
Robin Mellors-Bourne, development director at career development organisation Crac, was speaking after the body published new research into how IT is viewed by undergraduates.
More than 60 per cent of respondents to Crac's survey said that the main reason they would not enter the IT profession is the concern that their work would be boring, but Mr Mellors-Bourne believes the industry should not shy away from such a potential workforce.
"Employers should be able to counter that kind of perception," he maintained.
"We found that very few of the students hold negative perceptions about the IT profession or its people."
Paul Smith, managing director at outsourcing provider Harvey Nash, recntly told the Times that there are around 160,000 IT jobs currently unfilled in the sector.
