Many women working in IT careers are unsure what the future holds for them, according to a new survey.
At an event organised by womenintechnology.co.uk, 41 per cent of respondents said they felt a number of factors could stand in the way of their future progress.
However, nearly two-thirds of respondents admitted that it is a lack of clear vision which is making them uncertain over their prospects.
One woman said "I know where I would like to be but I'm not sure how to get there", while another commented "I am flexible depending on the opportunities that come up."
IT training could be one way in which women can carve out a more defined IT career path - and there is no better time to start than now, one expert believes.
Sarah Berry, author of Write a Perfect CV in a Weekend, is convinced that businesses will increasingly aim to make full use of the skills their current employees have, while workers should be looking to safeguard their own careers as the UK's economic climate worsens.
