Companies that give adequate reward to those in contracted IT jobs are likely to reap the largest benefits, it has been claimed.
ContractorCalculator has advised businesses not to bow to economic pressure and reduce contractor rates - or else risk losing the best talent.
The website refers to reports that some institutions have called on agencies to reduce rates when looking to fill IT jobs. However, according to ContractorCalculator's chief executive Dave Chaplin, this short-term fix could backfire.
"If you asked good IT contractors the secret of success for an IT project, they would say 'hire the best people you can find, keep the teams small, and they will make it happen'," said Mr Chaplin.
In January, IT Pro reported that figures from the Association of Technology Staffing Companies show that average hourly rates for freelancers in IT jobs had risen to it's highest for two years.
