Successful IT jobseekers figures revealed

19:19 11th June 2009

It has been revealed that 50 per cent of IT professionals are managing to find a new job within three months, reports computing.co.uk.

The study of 350 jobseekers was conducted by IT recruitment consultancy First Point.

Of these participants, 16 per cent said it had taken them a year or longer to find work.

This could be good news for people currently undergoing or considering doing an IT course or computer training.

Managing director of First Point, Tom Fahey, said: "The fact that both permanent and temporary workers continue to find work in a short period of time demonstrates the value placed upon skilled personnel."

Software development and testing are the most sought-after skills, according to the research.

However, First Point found that 40 per cent of people would remain in their current position longer than they originally anticipated due to the recession.

First Point specialises in recruitment for positions such as project manager, testing, Microsoft developer, web development and Windows support.
