Sophos: IT workers want hackers locked up

Computer security expert Sophos has said IT workers want to see some hackers put behind bars.

Senior technology expert Graham Cluley explained that individuals who hack into others' computers for financial gain are the ones who should be locked up.

"The ones who are in it for the cash are the ones who cause the most serious problems," he commented.

Mr Cluley recently said there were differences between people such as British Hacker Gary McKinnon, who could face a lengthy jail sentence for hacking into NASA and those who do it to steal money.

"Those are the guys that IT professionals are trying to fight off all the time. Those are the ones we really need to catch and to put in prison," he explained.

People in IT careers have to keep their personal and work files safe and backed up at all times.
