Spanish bank Santander has revealed it has saved £65 million in IT savings as part of its takeover of rival lender Alliance and Leicester (A&L).
The savings have been made by standardising computer systems between the two and moving A&L customers to its established IBM database.
The Spanish lender has performed well recently, while some of its competitors have struggled.
Marco Troiano, a banking analyst at Standard and Poor's Equity Research, told the Independent: "Santander take great pride in the way that they have come out of the credit crunch and they are right to feel proud."
"The main reason for that is their legacy as a retail bank and the Bank of Spain's rules were more prudent than for other countries," he continued.
Organisations look to their IT professional and workers in networking careers to provide solutions to often complex computing problems.
Some IT professionals now work from home, but the government's advisory body Business Link recommends home workers carry out a health and safety assessment of their workstation as they would in the office.
