NHS patients would be able to access their medical notes online under proposals forwarded by the Conservative party.
IT giants Microsoft and Google would be tasked to ensure the information remained secure - an ongoing concern for professionals in network jobs.
The shadow health minister Stephen O'Brien conducted a review of NHS IT. The shadow minister told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "We want to give patients the ability to give themselves greater control over their information."
Current attempts to introduce new health service IT systems are testing government workers in networking careers.
MPs were warned earlier this year that the government's system was on the brink of failure.
The Public Accounts Committee found the initiative to introduce online appointments, electronic prescriptions and a centralised record system was running four years later than originally planned and since then a supplier had pulled out.
