Part-time jobs could help people pursue IT training

The lack of full-time jobs currently available means more people than ever before are working in part-time positions, but these could enable employees to seek computer training more easily.

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), almost one million people are working in part-time positions as the recession has made many businesses uneasy about offering full-time employment opportunities.

However, Felix Wetzel, group marketing director at Jobsite, said employees with part-time positions have the chance to keep up to date with relevant training opportunities, which could put them in a better position to find a full-time job.

Mr Wetzel said: "Working part-time keeps your skills updated, provides you with a current reference, allows you the time to job-hunt and attend interviews for a full-time position, and keeps you in that crucial work place routine."

The number of people working in part-time jobs in the UK increased by 30,000 between the second and third quarters of this year, according to ONS figures.
