The number of IT jobs advertised in the UK in the first quarter of 2010 rose by four per cent in comparison to the last quarter of 2009, it has been revealed.
According to Computer Weekly, figures from CWJobs indicate that financial services IT job vacancies increased 23 per cent during the period, maintaining the sector's top ranking job postings since 2006.
The statistics show that 52 per cent of advertised jobs required SQL, C and C# programming skills, a fact that could encourage individuals to seek out specialist IT courses or IT training.
Vacancies for C# jobs rose 12 per cent at the start of 2010 compared to the previous year, the biggest increase in demand across the entire sector.
Richard Nott of CWJobs said: "It is encouraging to see job growth in the IT sector as the economy takes steps towards recovery.
"We hope these findings signal the start of re-investment in IT."
In related news, the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) recently stressed the importance of IT training, literacy and numeracy in many areas of employment.
