13:30 9th June 2009

In 2008, 71 per cent of employees reported being satisfied working for their company.

ORC International found that a further 68 per cent "feel proud" that they work for their organisation, reports HR Magazine.

In order to get greater job satisfaction, people may want to consider doing a home study course in IT training.

The survey was completed by over 1.5 million workers and revealed that overall job satisfaction has increased by four per cent from 2007, despite the bite of the credit crunch.

For 2008, 60 per cent of participants also stated they felt secure in their jobs - an improvement of nine per cent from the previous year - and 45 per cent said they were happy with their pay.

Satisfaction in retail is 8.8 per cent higher than the national average and those working in central government are 7.4 per cent less satisfied than average.

ORC International was founded in 1938 and is headquartered in New Jersey as the global research operating unit of the Opinion Research Corporation.
