Graduates hoping to better their employment chances should think twice about moving abroad, says the Recruitment Society.
The organisation has reminded graduates they are facing a global recession and jobs overseas may be equally hard to find.
There is also a danger that they could return without the additional skills needed to compete in the UK jobs market.
Steve Huxham, chairman of the Recruitment Society posed this question: "Will the skills acquired with such a move make you at that point more or less marketable than your peers who stuck it out in the UK job market?"
Instead of the uncertainty of moving to another country in search of work, graduates could look at ways of improving their employability by completing IT training or a computer course.
Based on the latest figures collected by the Association of Graduate Recruiters, vacancies for students fresh out of university will be 25 per cent lower this summer, providing even more reason then for them to make sure they have all the right skills in place before their next application.
