13:56 3rd July 2008

Microsoft has announced details of a new collaboration targeted at enterprises.

Individuals considering networking careers might be interested to hear of the new agreement with Micro Focus, which is aimed at improving integration and utilisation of the Windows platform.

Micro Focus products such as Net Express, SOA Express and Enterprise Server are to be upgraded to benefit from Microsoft services, including .NET Framework, SQL Server, Team Foundation Server, BizTalk Server and System Centre Operations Manager.

The companies are hoping that, by working together, they can help businesses to enjoy greater agility, lower costs and more reliability.

Bill Hilf, general manager for Windows Server marketing at Microsoft, said: "We are improving the value attained by mainframe customers choosing to go with the Windows platform for their modernisation strategy and improving the return on investment helping them reduce the costs of their deployment efforts."

Microsoft is due to deliver its quarterly earnings report on July 17th.
