Female professionals could gain the most from networking courses, the finding of new research suggest.
While the popularity of social networking sites has soared over the past few years, according to a new study from LinkedIn, men are far more likely to use them for professional rather than personal reasons.
Indeed, the site reports that men are 'much savvier' than women when it comes to making professional connections online, with this enhancing both their present business opportunities and even potentially boosting their long-term career prospects.
Commenting, LinkedIn connection director Nicole Williams explained that, while understandable, women's wariness of online professional networking is misplaced.
"Women can sometimes shy away from networking because they associate it with schmoozing or doling out business cards, when in reality, it?s about building relationships before you actually need them," she said.
This comes soon after a study carried out by found that just one in four UK businesses currently has a policy on social networking in the workplace.
