Many employees regret career decision

A large number of people in the UK believe that they are in the wrong career, new research has indicated.

According to a study conducted by Kelly Services, the recruitment firm, 20 per cent of respondents definitely feel that they are not doing the right job for them, while another 25 per cent are unsure.

Interestingly, the study revealed that 47 per cent of those questioned said that they regretted the training decisions they had made and wished that they had sought education in another field.

Just 45 per cent of the respondents said that they were happy with the way the UK's education system had prepared them for working life, which nowadays often requires sound IT skills.

Commenting on the findings, Kelly managing director Chris Moore said that many people are obviously concerned about the type of training they receive before entering the workplace.

He noted: "Regrettably, someone who discovers that they are in the wrong career is probably not as productive as they could be and may be missing out on a more fulfilling professional life."
