A cross-party group of MPs has suggested young children need more education on how to use money and help to increase social mobility.
A study by the group revealed that more than half the best jobs in the UK go to just seven per cent of the population.
As more jobs are now likely to be of a professional nature, it is increasingly important people from all backgrounds have the skills to achieve.
Chair of the panel Alan Milburn noted that "the professions have become more not less socially exclusive over time".
Recommendations include additional places on internships and a mentoring scheme to introduce people to professions they may not have previously considered.
Mr Milburn added that Britain needs professional careers to be "genuinely open to as wide a pool of talent as possible".
People looking to change job and move to web design careers should look for courses with modules that directly relate to the working world.
