Job hunters have been told to keep an eye out for "opportunities" following a new survey.
Tom Hadley, director of external relations at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, was commenting on the Report on Jobs report the company has released.
He said: "It's quite competitive to get jobs...but there are some opportunities in our job market."
One way to improve job prospects could be to complete a computer course or undertake IT training.
The report found that employment declined at the slowest rate in months during May, with recruiters reporting a 60 per cent increase in demand for temporary staff.
Mr Hadley said the job market was not the "complete desert" the news would have job seekers believe.
The Office of National Statistics reported on May 12th that the unemployment rate was 7.1 per cent for the first quarter of this year, which was up 1.8 per cent over the year.
