IT will become a political battleground, says expert

IT will soon become the centre of debate between political parties, says expert Mark Taylor.

Mr Taylor, chief executive of open source experts Sirius Corporation, explains that with an election not far off both Labour and the Conservatives are increasingly promoting their own IT policies.

Writing for tech advisory site ZDNet.co.uk he observed that as both main parties begin to lay out their IT policies in public, "deep and traditional political fault lines are being exposed".

In his opinion, the Labour Party has managed to create tools by which it can collate lots of public information but has failed to realise its largest NHS IT project.

The Conservatives however, "have only recently found their voice on public IT. Unfortunately that voice is not yet clearly heard or sufficiently understood," Mr Taylor noted.

The government hopes it can revolutionise UK's broadband provision by implementing the advice of Lord Carter's Digital Britain report.ADNFCR-1667-ID-19335914-ADNFCR
