IT leaders set to meet HRH

IT careers can be some among the most rewarding jobs in the job market - but even the best-paid directors were probably unprepared for the latest recognition bestowed upon the industry.

Three of IT's figureheads have been named in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in recognition of their contribution to technology in the UK, Computing reports.

Chief information officer for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) Joe Harley, Electronics Leadership Council chair Henry Tee and Cisco Systems UK's senior vice president Duncan Mitchell all received CBEs.

Mr Harley, who received his honour for his technology work at the government department, claimed he was "honoured and thrilled" to collect the medal.

"I believe this is also recognition of the IT transformational work that we have been doing for DWP and across government and regard it as a great acknowledgement for all in the IT profession," he said.

Honours are awarded twice a year by the Queen - lists are announced at New Year and on Her Majesty's birthday.
