People planning a networking career may find the IT industry goes through some significant changes in the months ahead, as more big companies look to bolster their positions.
Bloomberg reports there is likely to be a trend in the IT industry of large companies such as networking giant Cisco seeking to acquire smaller operations in a move to boost their presence across the IT industry.
Shaw Wu, an analyst at US firm Kaufman Bros, told the newswire that Cisco is already expanding from simply being a networking business to entering other areas of the IT industry.
As a result, people with a networking career may consider taking an IT training course in a different discipline in order to expand their skills set and make themselves more attractive to potential employers by being flexible enough to cover different operations.
Many employers are keen to find employees that are capable of covering a broad range of jobs during the recession, because a flexible workforce can reduce the need to bring in more workers at a time when keeping costs down is crucial.
