Programming careers may become increasingly focused on developing software that is capable of working on mobile devices in the future.
Alex Donnelly, portfolio manager at communications, networking, systems and application integration firm Damovo UK, has claimed that mobile working technology will become increasingly important to businesses and employees in the future.
That could mean more effort will be needed in the IT industry to develop a range of applications and devices that can deliver high quality services to users while on the move.
"More and more people are expected to and want to work more flexibly," explained Mr Donnelly, who also pointed out that businesses could benefit from this development by cutting down on their office costs, for example.
A recent study carried out by industry analyst firm Forrester predicted enterprise mobile workers will make up 73 per cent of the workforce by 2012.
