Professionals in programming careers might be interested in new research by KPMG, which sheds light on how new IT projects are viewed among businesses.
The consultancy found that many executives believe there needs to be a stronger correlation between identity and access management (IAM) systems and business processes.
IAM is defined by security specialist RSA as "the policies, processes, procedures and applications that help an organisation manage access to information".
According to KPMG's study, 68 per cent of executives believe the procedural side is overlooked by IT managers when implementing new technology in the workplace.
Furthermore, respondents claimed that 50 per cent of failed projects come about as a result of a lack of interaction between IT and business.
Commenting on the findings, KPMG partner Malcolm Marshall said: "IAM is 80 per cent process, policy and governance and 20 per cent technology.
"Recent control failures have shown that failing to get the governance of policies and process right can lead to serious security breaches."
