A new report has suggested that some of those in senior IT jobs are losing their interest in the environmental impact of their businesses.
Fewer than half (48 per cent) of IT directors questioned by document management firm Version One claimed to be 'very concerned' by green issues - down from 56 per cent in 2007.
Similarly, the percentage of respondents who are 'concerned' by the effect of their operations on the environment fell by 12 per cent over the year to 86 per cent.
At the other end of the spectrum, 12 per cent admitted they were wholly unconcerned by the ecological pressures facing the industry. That proportion compares to one per cent last year.
According to Socitm Insight, information and communication technology accounts for two per cent of global CO2 emissions, Computer Weekly reports.
