Revenue generated through shipments of servers increased by 19.5 per cent in the second quarter of the year, new research has revealed.
Data from Gartner showed that there was growth of eight per cent in total shipments around the world in this period.
In addition, the report indicated that the Asia-Pacific geographic region contributed the most to overall shipment volumes, posting 25.6 per cent expansion.
Meanwhile, the highest vendor revenue increase came from Japan, which added 59.5 per cent for the three-month period between April and June.
"The second quarter produced solid growth on a yearly basis, as the recovery that started in 2010 continues to eke out slow improvements," explained Jeffrey Hewitt, research vice-president at Gartner.
He added: "All regions showed yearly growth in both shipments and vendor revenue, although in both measures the market is again below the pre-downturn levels we saw in the corresponding quarter of 2008."
