A new government initiative encouraging graduates to set up their own businesses will help to kick start the economy, says a recruitment expert.
Backed by a £1 million government investment, the Flying Start scheme will see 5,000 young people get the opportunity to attend one of 50 one-day rallies focusing on entrepreneurship.
The events will offer support, advice, guidance and information through practical workshops and speeches from business leaders.
Responding to the news, Dan Hawes, co-founder of the Graduate Recruitment Bureau, said: "Graduates with entrepreneurial flair definitely need to be harnessed to provide the seeds of growth for UK Plc."
He added: "The government is obviously keen to keep the unemployment figures down and have several initiatives to help graduates into work which is a good thing, however it is not suitable for everybody so I would advise not relying on their support entirely."
