Changes to higher education to treat students as equal partners in the learning process has been called for in a new report released today.
The second report from the National Student Forum argues that students should be able to work with tutors to find the method of learning that suits them best.
Flexible working is also called for in the new report - and universities and students have been invited to use the internet to have their opinions on the new report heard.
Increasing flexibility in the learning environment could see a move toward more distance learning, where IT could play a central role.
Chair of the National Student Forum Maeve Sherlock said that different interest groups should "work together to help tailor the learning opportunities and support services provided to students".
Earlier this month it was argued by Jesse Westgate from Misco that the IT industry has benefitted from continued government investment in rebuilding the country's schools.
