A growing number of businesses are looking to outsource their database administration functions, according to a new report.
Figures compiled by the Independent Oracle Users Group showed a 40 per cent increase in database administration outsourcing over the past year, demonstrating the potential for database administration careers.
As the global economic downturn continues to restrict budgets at businesses across the globe, many organisations are turning to outsourcing services to cut costs, with database administration among those being offloaded to specialists.
The study found that data experts at businesses are being urged to do more with less as part of the cost-cutting drive, resulting in outsourcing of database administration and other functions to IT industry experts.
A recent report from analyst company IDC suggested the IT industry would play a crucial role in the global economic recovery, contributing 5.8 million jobs worldwide over the next four years.
