Clydesdale students enjoy web design success

17:00 9th October 2009

Two students from Motherwell College in Clydesdale look set for highly successful web design careers after coming in the top five of a national competition.

The Hamilton Advertiser reports that Kieran Aitken and David Rankin finished second and fifth respectively in the UK heat of the World Skills Advanced Web Design competition, which seeks out high quality web design skills.

Kieran is now eligible to take part in the UK team that will represent the country at the international World Skills Competition, to be held in London in 2011.

The event is aimed at highlighting high levels of talent in the web design industry and demonstrating the huge potential that a web design career can hold.

The Independent has recently suggested that more needs to be done to provide high quality IT training in the UK, after it reported the number of British students taking IT training at university has dropped by 60 per cent since 2000, despite an increase in demand for talent within the IT industry.
