Workers should continually work to build their skills base if they are to stay ahead in an increasingly-competitive jobs market.
That is according to the behavioural change specialist and business author Seven Suphi, who has advised that, given there is no such thing as a 'job for life' these days, it pays to invest in training, such as that given in IT industry courses.
Furthermore, as well as opening up the door to a range of new opportunities, having an enhanced skill base can also make a job more enjoyable by taking away any stress or fear about being replaced by someone with extra qualifications.
"If you believe your job is at risk then take the time to consider what you would like to do in the future and re-train before you have to - building your skill base can only be a good thing," Ms Suphi explained.
These comments come soon after a paper published in the British Journal of Psychiatry warned that the ongoing shift away from the 'male breadwinner' scenario could result in an increase in rates of depression among male blue-collar workers.
