30 to 45 year olds affected by mid-career malaise

Mid-career malaise is affecting most 30 to 45 year olds, according to a new report from Vodafone.

The phone company's research, conducted among 3,800 adults of various ages by Opinion Leader, reported that when asked about 'negative feelings' regarding work, the 31 to 45 age bracket were the most jaded.

Fifty-nine per cent of this age group felt undervalued, 49 per cent felt unfulfilled and 43 per cent confessed to feeling de-motivated.

Satisfaction levels peaked at 90 per cent for the oldest age group of 65 and over.

Nick Rand, associate director of Opinion Leader, believes that this research disproves the notion that working cultures have been changed forever with the advent of new forms of communication.

He said: "Our research showed that this young cohort is indeed highly ambitious and wants to succeed in a shorter time span than ever.

"But with these new, higher expectations comes the risk of greater disappointment."
