Young people in the UK should be encourage to sign up for IT training, according to Maggie Berry, director of womenintechnology.co.uk.
"The IT profession is huge and there are loads of opportunities and things you can do within it, but they are not jobs that you would necessarily know about. It's new, and jobs are coming up all the time" she said.
Ms Berry encourage people to fight the discrimination against IT related jobs.
She also said it was "ridiculous" that the UK is dropping behind other countries when it comes to the investment in technology. The expert said that, on the contrary, there needs to be a big push to encourage young people to study IT.
Her views emerged as the Council for Industry and Higher Education for the UK called leaders to invest in the development of digital industries and for it to become more of a priority in education.
