Those with the right qualifications in the IT industry could see their career prosper, according to Maggie Berry, managing director of womenintechnology.co.uk, an information portal featuring IT jobs, news, events listings and career advice for IT professionals.

"IT skills are always attractive to employers, and as technology develops this demand is only going to grow," she said.

Ms Berry went on to say that students who take interest in developing their IT skills will be the ones set to impress ahead of their rivals and are the ones that have the best chance of launching a successful career "in what is a rapidly growing and exciting industry".

The expert also said that with signs that the economy is recovering this year there is more optimism among managers in UK companies.

"I think we are definitely going to see an increase in IT jobs," she predicted.

She said many businesses really want are eager to hire more female talent for technology roles, but that they simply can't find those with the right IT courses.
