The use of web conferencing in businesses is a good tool to improve productivity, according to Hugo Harber, the director of convergence and network strategy at Star.
"By providing integrated conferencing and collaboration tools you can reduce the need to travel and increase productivity," Mr. Harber said.
He went on to say that phones, email, shared desk tops, and web meetings allow employees to gradually have more flexibility at work.
Some of the benefits of working from home include an improved handling of resources and reduced consumption of resources, which are good for businesses and for the environment, Mr. Harber said.
His comments emerged as a publication of a report by Frost & Sullivan revealed that the web conferencing services market grew by 19.3 per cent in Europe last year.
The growth was driven partially by a growth in unified communications-enabled homeworking, the survey showed. The study also revealed that companies are expecting even more growth in the future.
