Those embarking on IT training courses might agree that visual learning is a great way to absorb knowledge.
According to Janet Garcia, Director of ThirdForceUK, more information is retained when it is delivered while stimulating the visual and auditory senses of learners.
Taking to her company's blog, Ms Garcia explained: "The modern day learner wants immediate, bite-sized and engaging learning, which video-based content serves so well."
Indeed, YouTube and other video-sharing websites are often used by people who want a handy and quick instruction guide to a task or service, with members of Ms Garcia's household logging on to the online research to find out "how to play marbles, to prune back a lavender bush, to fix a lawnmower, to break-dance and to pull out a wobbly tooth".
People who are trying out computer courses may find they receive information in a more constructive way if they have the benefit of listening and watching at the same time, while the pause function on a video clip is also handy for those scribbling notes at the same time.
