The IT industry could see an increase in demand from businesses for unified communications technology over the coming year as a growing number of businesses are looking to use the technology to save money.
According to new research from analyst firm the Dell'Oro Group, many companies are seeking to deploy unified communications systems in order to reduce their overall costs and develop more efficient means of communicating.
Diane Myers, a directing analyst at Infonetics Research, said that the growth in unified communications would also result in a rise in the use of Voice-over Internet Protocol technology.
As a result, people in IT careers who are able to help businesses utilise such technology could be in high demand over the months ahead as organisations look to slim down their communications expenditure.
Many businesses are beginning to move towards the use of such technology because of the financial pressures being placed on them by the global recession.
Companies are increasingly looking at different methods to cut long-term costs, from changing their communications infrastructure to developing a more flexible workforce through training initiatives.
