A new survey has revealed that one in three UK workers take their laptops on holiday with them, instead of taking the opportunity to relax and forget about the daily grind.
Credant Technologies, the software security firm, surveyed 300 workers and found that 65 per cent continued to make contact with the office, either by phone, text or email whilst on holiday.
The research also found that one in four workers check their e-mail at least once a day, with a meagre 40 per cent of workers comfortable enough to resist the temptation to email the office while away.
Michael Callahan, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Credant Technologies, said: "Whether it's paranoia on the part of employees, or unrealistic demands from employers, numerous workers will be accessing the corporate network from all over the globe this summer."
In further research carried out this month, the Chartered Management Institute revealed that nearly 40 per cent of city workers are trying to swap their holiday entitlement for extra pay.
