Twitter, the microblogging site, is set to become profitable at the end of this year, according to several news reports.
Media reports have recently said that the site is going to end 2009 with revenue of around $25 (£15.63) million and operating costs of between $20 (£12.5) and $25 (£15.63) million.
Analysts had doubted the site profitability despite its huge success on the internet.
But Twitter has received payments of allegedly $15 (£9.38) million from Google and $10 (£6.25) million from Bing for being listed in the search engine's real-time search results.
"There is a lot of value in understanding social repositories of data - [for example] there is a lot of value in analysing Wikipedia and trying to understand how topics are connected," said Mayank Bawa, chief executive and co-founder of Aster Data.
In other news, British consumers seem to be addicted to new technology, according to Richard Patterson, marketing director for Broadband-Expert.co.uk.
His views emerged following the annual International Communications Market study from Ofcom which found more Brits are staying in and turning on their TVs and laptops during their time off.
