Those IT workers that keep on top of their IT training will benefit from securing the top openings in the sector, according to Richard Nott, website director at specialist IT recruitment website CWJobs.co.uk.
"It's important for people to keep up to date to find out where the best opportunities are for them," he said.
Mr Nott also warned those working in IT that they "need to keep abreast of developments in IT".
"It's an ever-evolving and ever-changing market and the pace of change is always very quick," he added.
According to a survey published last week by IBM, IT professionals predict that mobile and cloud computing will emerge as the most in-demand platforms for software application development and IT delivery over the next five years.
He was speaking at 360°IT, an IT infrastructure event which took place at Earls Court in London last month.
