University students currently have a wide variety of technological tools available to help them with their learning, according to Dr Neil Morris, a senior lecturer in neuroscience at the University of Leeds.
"Many tools, for example, videos of lectures, blogs and wikis as collaborative writing tools for students to produce group assignments are in use at the University of Leeds to enhance learning," said Dr Morris, who is also researcher in the use of technology to enhance learning and teaching in higher education. The use of such technology could also widen access to resources for home learning projects.
The expert went on to say that students learn better if they are offered flexibility in the technology they use to learn.
He also said that technological tools can be used to help pupils turn into better learners if properly integrated into the curriculum with measurable learning outcomes.
His remarks emerged as it was announced the next generation ereader Kindle would be released to the UK market with handsets available from August 27th.
