Children spend on average £383 on technology each year, new figures by Halifax have revealed.
According to the Halifax report, 91 per cent of children own a games console while almost three-quarters (74 per cent) own a mobile phone.
The survey also found that two-fifths of children (40 per cent) download music online, a trend much more popular amongst children aged between 12 and15 years (51 per cent) compared to the ones aged between 8 and11 (29 per cent).
"Today's technology is part of children's lives, they grow up with it and embrace it. It comes naturally to them because they do not know any different," Richard Sharp, founder of Gadgets and Gizmos, commented about the findings of the survey.
Mr Sharp went on to say that £383 is a reasonable figure for some families but not for others, noting that the cost of technology can create polarisation between youngsters.
