The YoungMinds organisation that campaigns on issues affecting young people has published a report highlighting the increased anxiety experienced by the emerging generation.

'Stressed Out and Struggling' reveals that young people are extremely worried about the future, particularly money, career and getting a foot on the property ladder.

The report also found that young people were being helped by technology such as the internet and social networking sites which gave them a platform to vent their frustrations.

Sarah Brennan, YoungMinds' chief executive, commented: "Social networking sites are very popular with children and young people. They allow young people to express their identity and opinions through video, photos, music and chat."

According to the Mental Health Foundation, the internet can help girls to deal with problems by sharing their fears confidentially in cyber-space and receiving advice without fear of compromising their anonymity.
