More than half of IT staff believe that the industry offers greater job security than other occupations, according to a new survey.
The poll, conducted by the digital researcher Interquest, questioned more than 100 UK IT contractors and found that half of respondents had no concerns about job security, even at an increasingly desperate economic time.
In addition, the research found that two-thirds of IT companies are not making job cuts, though this is a 20 per cent increase on the start of the year it does not reflect widespread losses in other industries.
Gary Ashworth, executive chairman at Interquest, said: "Despite the economic doom and gloom of the past year as other industries fell victim to job cuts and declining profits, IT remained resilient."
In other news, a recent survey of IT directors disclosed that 55 per cent believed that salaries for permanent IT staff will increase over the next 12 months.
