Social networking 'is becoming embedded in way of doing business'

08:12 16th June 2010

The use of social networking tools is gradually turning into "business-as-usual" as a number of new graduates each year use them as part of the normal way in which they relate with each other and bring these skills into the workplace, according to Robert Stroud, the international vice president of ISACA (formerly known as the Information Systems Audit and Control Association).

"As organisations familiarise themselves with social media, they will become more aware of how to effectively and correctly use it in the workplace," Mr Stroud said.

He went on to say that companies will need to implement efficient policies to tackle a workforce that relies heavily on the use of social media.

But Mr Stroud also said that the usage of social media can also help companies grow wallet share in the future.

His comments followed a recent report by Consumer Reports magazine which revealed that 52 per cent of adult users on social networking sites have posted risky personal information online.
